Community Inclusion & Recreational Programming

Elmwood’s recreational programming forms the heartbeat of the organization!

Recreational programming enhances the quality of life of Elmwood’s residents and we encourage and support the residents to be involved in this programming. A wide variety of activities and events are coordinated in-house and through community-based opportunities.

Many residents regularly participate in a variety of activities including art clubs, music, dances and sports.

We regularly host school partnerships and service animals at Kinsmen Manor and participate in community through a variety of local connections. Elmwood residents also regularly attend concerts, sports events, heritage festivals, exhibitions and many other events happening locally.

The programs which are offered are based on the goals set out in each residents Person-Centred Planning Meeting and through Resident Recreation Meetings. Utilizing these holistic approaches, Elmwood’s Community Inclusion Program was launched in the fall of 2021 which expands current Recreation Supports offered by Elmwood.  This program is intended to meet a gap in services between traditional Day Programming and those who would like to explore more untraditional programming options to better suit their needs and wishes for programming.  This program focuses on supporting Community Inclusion through a Resident First Approach.

Elmwood ensures that the spiritual, cultural, social and physical needs of each residents is met.

We, at Elmwood, take great pride in being able to offer these awesome opportunities for the residents we support.

Please check out our GET INVOLVED section for more information on how you can help!
