When you make a gift of securities to Elmwood YOU are empowering people living with intellectual disabilities to lead full and meaningful lives.
When you donate publicly traded securities or mutual funds directly to a charity, you won’t incur capital gains tax on their increase in value and your gift will result in a charitable tax receipt for the full market value of your contribution. Please note Elmwood is partnered with CanadaHelps for processing all gifts of securities. Donate now.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness and interest in supporting Elmwood by leaving a legacy gift. Your Will is powerful and you can make a significant impact for those Elmwood serves while still supporting those you love.

Help our residents connect to the wider community
We all have places to be, but we don’t all have the transportation that we need to get there. That’s why Elmwood operates a fleet of accessible vehicles to help get residents to medical appointments, Day Programs, employment, recreational opportunities and community events. Despite the importance of these vehicles, the capital funding to purchase them is not provided by the government. Help us equip each community home with an accessible vehicle that ensures safety, independence, and enhanced access.
Help reduce isolation, and support residents’ health and wellbeing
Our recreational programming makes a world of difference to our residents, who face barriers to participating in city events and activities . A little goes a long way when it comes to improving quality of life. Our staff coordinates with volunteers and community experts to lead in-house activities such as art club, chair yoga, literacy club, skill development based classes, as well as taking residents to community activities such as bowling leagues, sporting events and City festivals.
Enhanced Health & Wellness
Improve mental and physical health
Our Health & Wellness Team and Disability Support Professionals Team provide exceptional care, but needs are high and we can do more to foster resident well-being. We work diligently in partnership with individuals, family members, team members and other partners to ensure residents have access to the equipment and therapies they need. With donor support, we are able to provide next-level sensory regulating support and consistent care for chronic conditions.
Quality Accessible Homes
Help transform a house into a home
At Elmwood, we want to see residents thrive, not just survive. That includes highlighting the gaps in maintenance funding for resident homes as we work hard to make them comfortable spaces to live. Simple things like raised beds for accessible gardening, patio furniture, or household entertainment fall outside of what is funded for home maintenance and upkeep. We see so much potential in creating quality, life-giving homes for our residents that give them a sense of pride. We aim to create homes that are inviting, well-kept, and adapted to the needs of the people who live there.
