Position Overview:
The Director of Resident Supports is a Senior Leader within Elmwood and works with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure optimal organizational operations. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Resident Supports is responsible for oversight of all aspects of programming delivered by Elmwood including, but not limited to, Residential Support and Day Programming. The Director will ensure that supports and services delivered are person-centred, community-based and in line with Elmwood’s Resident First Approach. The Director supports strategic alignment of the organization through the development of departmental plans in line with the operational action plan supporting innovation, transparency, and positive organizational culture.

Founded in 1969, services currently include Community Group Homes, Supportive Independent Living Support, Day Programming, Recreation Therapy and Trust Services. Key Responsibilities:
- Departmental and Organizational Leadership
- Provide effective, innovative, and visible leadership for the organization in pursuit of excellence and lead operational decision making for the Resident Support Department.
- Provide direction, mentorship and coaching to the Resident Support Team including all resident-facing Programs and their responsible Managers.
- Serve as Chairperson of the Elmwood Program Committee, evaluate quality of service and oversee admissions to and transitions from services and sit on other internal/external Committees as required.
- Lead and provide guidance to team members in both non-union and union environments, including working within the terms of Collective Agreements.
- Manage departmental budget to ensure the provision of services in line with Contracts for Services.
- Strategic Alignment
- Develop, implement, grow, and inspire a range of innovative, inclusive community-based services in line with Elmwood’s Strategic and Operational Action Plans.
- Identify gaps, develop, implement, and evaluate programmatic solutions to address human service gaps, support accountability and drive change to better serve individuals living with intellectual disabilities.
- Regularly attend and report to the Board of Directors to support alignment of Strategic Direction and Operations.
- Relationships and Partnerships
- Build, foster, and maintain effective relationships with individuals, families, team members, and community partners to maximize impact of the organization.
- Serve as senior point of escalation for residents, families, team member and partners.
- Broker new partnerships to support the growth and development of the organization and to address key gaps in service.
- Communicate transparently and authentically with individuals, family members, government agencies as partners in care and support.
- Quality Assurance
- Collect and utilize quantitative and qualitative data to analyze impact of programs and services and improve operations.
- Oversee incident/serious incident reporting processes, complete quarterly reporting in accordance with the Ministry of Social Services – Community Living Service Delivery (CLSD) contract for services and provide regular programmatic reporting.
- Ensure that the needs of the individuals Elmwood support, their families and team members are met through awareness, education, quality improvement, and safety.
- Ensure all policies, procedures, person-centred plans, care plans are up to date and adhered to by Elmwood team members.
- Ensure all programs requiring licensing or accreditation meet required standards.

Position Essentials:
- Post-Secondary/Graduate degree in human service-related discipline and/or leadership.
- 5+ years in a leadership position with demonstration of progressive advancement.
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
- Experience in development of diversity-based partnerships.
- Experience in the disability, social services, health, or housing sectors considered an asset.
